Wanted: Single Invisible Female
Recently the son of creator of the Invisible Scarlet O'Neil, has approached Atlantis Studios about writing a compendium book that tells the history of the character as well as the author, Russell Stamm.
Just in case you do not recognize her, Scarlet was one of (if not the first) female superheroes with powers. She made her debut in the Chicago daily paper in April 1941 and her strip lasted for nearly fifteen years. Though she was primarily a newspaper daily and Sunday strip, her adventures were reprinted in Famous Funnies and she even had her own short comic series from Harvey comics. In 1956, Stamm ended the series and went into advertising - where the real money was - and Invisible Scarlet disappeared... The Stamm family has been extremely helpful and we have discovered collections of original art from the strip as well as copies of most of the run. We have been sorting and scanning the artwork and it has been a fascinating process, especially reading the first arcs of the strip from the 1940's! I've been hard at work researching the character, but it is amazing how little information there is on a character that was featured in mainstream newspapers for over 15 years! This is an exciting project for me and I would be grateful for any help anyone here could provide. I would be more than happy to give you an acknowledgment in the book, so if you have any information regarding Scarlet or her creator, Russell Stamm please feel free to contact me through the forum or by contacting us though our page at www.ComicSpace.com/AtlantisStudios. Thanks! Last edited by NewLegendMike; 05-10-2007 at 12:31 AM. |

Click the link below to view a copy of the very first daily strip that appeared in June 1940. As far as we know, this is the only time Stamm depicted Scarlet's origin in the dailies!
Invisible Scarlet O'Neil I'll be sure to keep y'all posted on our progress. Thanks for the support! |
